Hong Kong--A “highly translucent” jadeite bangle is expected to be the top lot at Sotheby’s Hong Kong next month.
The rare piece, the highlight of the Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite sale scheduled for April 3, is expected to sell for $10.2 million to $12.8 million.
The bangle is described as having a full, emerald-green color with “fine texture.” It was named the “Circle of Heaven” not only for its circular form, representing the idea of unity, but also because jadeite is thought to be the “stone of heaven” in ancient Chinese belief.
