13-Carat Pink Rough Sells for Nearly $9 Million

London—Gem Diamonds has announced the sale of a special diamond.

Last month, the miner said it had recovered a 13.33-carat Type I pink diamond from the Letšeng mine in Lesotho.

Now, Gem Diamonds has sold the remarkable stone at a tender in Antwerp for $8.8 million, or roughly $656,441 per carat, to an undisclosed party.
